TIRE SAFETY TIPS

Checklist


1. Check tire pressure at least once a month

2. Inspect the tires for:
              a. Uneven tread wear
              b. Cracks
              c. Foreign objects
              d. Bulges In the Sidewall or tread
              e. Other signs of wear and/or damage 
              f. Remove foreign objects from the tread

3. Make sure that the tire valves have caps

4. Check the tire pressure before taking a long trip

5. Don't overload your vehicle

        • Check the owner's manual for the maximum amount of weight for your vehicle

6. If you're towing a trailer 

        • Some of the weight of the trailer will be transferred to the towing vehicle

7. Rotate your tires every 6,000 miles

1. Rotate your tires every 6,000 miles

       • Keeping your tires rotated will ensure even tread wear and wilt maximize the life of your tires. Even tread wear will improve handling and braking performance.

2. Keep your tires balanced

      • Unbalanced tires will cause the tread to wear unevenly AND will cause other components of your vehicle, such as the suspension, to wear out as well.

3. Keep your car aligned properly 

     • A vehicle that is out of alignment will cause the tires to wear out very quickly

4. Install matched tires when replacing old tires

     • Tires should be replaced in pairs or as a matched set. Installing different tires can have a significant influence on the handling, balance and braking performance of the vehicle,

5. Choose the right tires for your needs and environment
